Sorry for the long post but tony384 mentioned that there was "a service bulletin that showed the problem to be loose bolts in the trunk, under the under-coating" but I don't understand what means and haven't been able to find any TSB that talks about. I have heard people report a clunk type noise when applying the brakes if that tab isn't in place. I had that thunk sound for at least 3 years now and can not identify sound. Also my rear end squeaks everytime i hit a bump. 4 enjoy, and now when I brake at slow speeds (20-30mph) there is a knocking sound. i now just release it slowly to try and avoid the heavy impact/release and seems to be working well. What's this? A car which is going to give the closely related Continental GT a very serious headache. 5 years old. The rear will bind slightly elongated as you come to rest with engine torque providing the force to keep them stuck. But the other part of me seems to feel that it is an end result of a botched PTU. It's best to play it safe and have brake noises checked by a trusted mechanic. We were getting a thumping/clicking sound, from both sides, when braking that seemed to match the tire rotation. It seems I have developed the same noise on my 2014 Escape titanium with only 41,000. pulling into my driveway etc).
